I told everyone that I would pick up the reunion torch and start brainstorming ideas for a reunion next year so here we go.
There was a suggestion to find a destination to go to for our 2022 reunion, get some Airbnbs somewhat close together and have some fun places to explore, instead of hosting it at one of our homes. John and Sondra did a reunion with John’s side of the family in South Dakota awhile ago and visited Mt Rushmore while staying in a cabin in Spearhead, SD. What do y’all think about trying the South Dakota destination? Would that interest anyone?? If you have a better idea, a destination suggestion or anything else to add, please use this forum to voice your concerns or offer suggestions! Looking forward to finally getting this ball rolling again!!

That’s a fun idea! Would it be one place or a bunch of separate places though?
It would be just the one place but we’d try to make it somewhere with fun things to do in that location! South Dakota might be the one we choose if others are open to it since Aunt Sondra knows some fun places around there. Or we’re open to other suggestions as well.
Could be fun! Thinking of any particular time of year (weather)? What sort of activities did Capobres folks do? Seems like there’s some nice nature and hiking.
Hey Brian, thanks for contributing the blog! We were thinking about the early July dates in 2022 but haven’t pinned down exact dates yet. I think there are some state or national parks in the area, Mt Rushmore of course, but as to specific things the Capobres clan did, I will let Sondra address that one!
I’m having technology problems, so I have to be a guest! John and I went to South Dakota on our way back home from Illinois. We stopped in Rapid City for food and gas, and we only spent a couple of hours at Mt. Rushmore. Several people have since told us that it is worth staying until the evening ceremony. Our Airbnb was in Lead, which is in the mountains. You can hike and bike, and Spearfish Lake was not far away for fishing, boating, etc. We went into Deadwood for pizza, ice cream, gift shops, and a comedy play… Read more »
Wow, great details Sondra! I would love to hear what others think of this idea!
